Children deserve an approach to learning that recognises their individual strengths, interests and learning needs. At Bedford Tutor and our online division, Kite Tutoring, our specialist programmes have been carefully developed to support children who benefit from personalised one-to-one teaching, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Available through in-person tuition in Bedford for children aged 7-14 and online for learners aged 7-16 across the UK and internationally, our programmes combine structured teaching with engaging activities that build confidence, independence and lasting success.

Rather than expecting children to adapt to a single teaching method, we adapt our teaching to suit the individual. Our specialist programmes work alongside personalised English and maths tuition to strengthen core skills whilst removing barriers to learning. Whether a learner requires additional support with literacy, mathematics, confidence or self-esteem, lessons are carefully tailored to help them make meaningful progress, develop secure foundations and enjoy learning again. ↑ Back to top

*Subject to availability. Following the initial trial lesson, future sessions are usually booked in blocks of five† to support continuity and sustained progress.
Payments from non-UK bank accounts incur an additional administration fee of £1 to £2 for each lesson to cover international payment processing costs.
For online students aged 11+, 45-minute lessons may be available at selected times.
†Online students in Years 10–11/Grades 9–10 are offered sessions on a weekly booking basis rather than in blocks of five. This approach provides greater flexibility around school commitments, examinations and changing schedules, helping lessons remain calm, supportive and responsive to each student’s needs.

💎 Diamond Spelling & Reading Programme

Our Diamond Spelling & Reading Programme is a specialist, dyslexia-friendly literacy programme designed to help children become confident readers, accurate spellers and capable writers through a structured, personalised approach. Available for children aged 7-14 through in-person tuition and 7-16 online, the programme focuses on developing the essential foundations of literacy by strengthening phonemic awareness, phonics, syllable awareness and morphology. By helping children understand how sounds, letters, syllables and meaningful word parts work together, learners develop a much deeper understanding of language rather than relying solely on memorising words.

Lessons are carefully sequenced to ensure new skills builds naturally upon previous learning, creating secure foundations that support reading, spelling, vocabulary development and written communication. Through engaging, multi-sensory activities, children gradually develop greater reading fluency, spelling accuracy and confidence whilst learning strategies they can apply independently. ➗ Delta Maths & Mastery Programme

Our Delta Maths & Mastery Programme provides a structured, dyscalculia-friendly approach that develops genuine mathematical understanding rather than simply teaching children to memorise procedures. Available for learners aged 7-14 through in-person tuition and 7-16 online, the programme focuses on building secure number sense, mathematical reasoning, fluency and problem-solving skills through carefully sequenced learning experiences. Complex concepts are broken down into manageable steps using visual representations, practical activities and clear explanations that help children understand the ‘why’ behind mathematics.

Lessons are adapted to the learner’s individual pace, strengths and preferred learning style, helping to remove barriers that often lead to frustration or maths anxiety. Suitable for children with dyscalculia, confidence challenges and a wide range of additional educational needs, the programme develops resilience alongside mathematical understanding. 🦜 Mindful Macaws Confidence & Self-Esteem Programme

Across Bedford Tutor and Kite Tutoring, confidence is not taught separately from academic learning; it is woven into lessons through our Mindful Macaws Confidence & Self-Esteem Programme. We recognise that many children, particularly those with SEND, dyslexia, ADHD, autism and confidence challenges, may have experienced frustration or setbacks that affect how they see themselves as learners. Mindful Macaws helps rebuild that confidence by creating a calm, encouraging environment where children feel valued, supported and capable of success.

Through positive reinforcement, achievable challenges, reflective activities and opportunities to celebrate progress, children develop resilience, self-belief and a positive attitude towards learning. Rather than focusing only on academic outcomes, we help learners become more independent, willing to take risks and confident in tackling new challenges.
