How Our Tuition Process Works
At Bedford Tutor and our online division, Kite Tutoring, we provide personalised one-to-one English and maths tuition through a combination of in-person and online learning for children aged 5–16. This page explains how our enquiry, introduction, trial session, and ongoing tuition process works, helping families understand what to expect when starting support with us.

1️⃣ Initial Enquiry & Free Induction Call
Following an enquiry, we arrange a free induction phone call to discuss your child’s learning needs, strengths, confidence, and the type of support you are looking for.
This also gives families the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about our approach.

2️⃣ Short Online Introduction Session
If we both feel that our tuition may be a suitable fit, we will then arrange a short online Zoom introduction session of up to 10 minutes.
This gentle initial meeting allows us to briefly meet your child, introduce ourselves and our learning style, and help your child feel comfortable in a relaxed and supportive environment.

3️⃣ Initial Trial Session
Following the introduction session, we will carefully consider whether we feel our teaching style and approach are likely to be a suitable fit for your child’s individual needs.
If appropriate, we may then offer an initial 30-minute online trial session. This session allows your child to experience our teaching approach while giving us the opportunity to assess engagement, learning style, confidence, and overall suitability in more depth.
The trial session is charged as a one-off individual payment.
Please note that progression to a trial session and ongoing tuition cannot be guaranteed, as all support offered is carefully considered on an individual basis.

4️⃣ Ongoing Tuition Recommendation
If the trial session goes well and we feel our approach is a suitable fit, we may then offer either:
To ensure the best possible support, tuition is offered according to each child’s learning needs, suitability, and current availability.
Ongoing tuition is paid for in blocks of five sessions.
Our aim is always to ensure that any tuition offered is appropriate, supportive, and beneficial for the individual child.
💫 Why is hybrid learning an important part of your approach for in-person students?
Hybrid learning forms an important part of our provision because it helps ensure children can continue accessing familiar support and maintain consistency in their learning, even when in-person sessions are not possible.
By becoming comfortable with both in-person and online learning, children are able to transition more smoothly between learning environments during illness, timetable changes, adverse weather, or other unexpected circumstances. This helps maintain routine, continuity, and confidence while reducing disruption to learning.
For many children, particularly those who benefit from structure, predictability, and familiar routines, this consistency can play an important role in supporting both emotional wellbeing and academic progress.
🌿 What happens if you feel your tuition may not be the right fit for my child?
Our priority is always ensuring that children receive the type of support that will help them feel most comfortable, successful, and well supported.
If, following the introduction or trial process, we feel that our tuition style may not be the most suitable fit for your child’s individual needs, we will discuss this honestly and sensitively with you. Where possible, we will also try to provide helpful recommendations or suggestions for alternative types of support that may be more appropriate.
